rum ham hawaiian pizza

rum ham hawaiian pizza

Whoever said ham isn't exciting never tried Rum Ham. Just add rum and an exhilarating "en flambé" moment and, suddenly, you're not just serving dinner- you're hosting an event.

ingredients

  • Diced Dietz & Watson Ham of your choice
  • 6 oz Dietz & Watson shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4 oz Dietz & Watson grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Pizza Dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons room temperature butter
  • Diced pineapple
  • ½ medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced

directions

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  2. In a medium pot, over medium heat, melt the butter until foamy. Add the flour and cook until the flour no longer smells raw. Slowly stream in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, and no raw flour flavor remains. About 10 minutes. Season with salt.
  3. In a well-seasoned, 12-inch cast iron pan, rub the interior with all of the butter, then press out the pizza dough to fill the pan. Cover with a towel and let sit at room temperature until the pizza dough almost doubles in size.
  4. Slather the béchamel (from step 2) on the pizza dough, top with ham and pineapple, then mozzarella cheese and finish with red onion and jalapeño.
  5. Place on a burner over medium high heat until the butter starts to sizzle, then place in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
  6. Top with parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
